It's a beautiful time of year, and a great time to get outdoors! Below are a few notes to remind everyone of some fire prevention and safety information:
- In response to post-tropical storm Fiona, the Province of PEI has adapted the typical burning permit process. Please view the Provincial resources for more information, and be aware that municipal by-laws supersede provincial legislation.
- Stratford by-laws prohibit burning of rubbish, leaves or other vegetation in the town, except for:
- the burning of wood in enclosed outdoor fireplaces with built in chimneys
- the use of gas, propane and charcoal BBQs
- controlled burns approved by the Fire Chief
- Additionally, with the nice weather upon us, many residents are engaging in outdoor activities (walking, cycling, etc.). Please be mindful of this while driving, adjust driving speeds and provide safe distances when sharing our roadways.
Finally, please remember to contact 9-1-1 immediately if you need emergency assistance.
